Manufactured Climbing in Tensleep Canyon

The Tensleep Canyon Aerospace Society calls out unethical manufacturing practices when it is discovered or made known to us, our book reflects our route development ethics.

Chipping and gluing in the canyon overtook the conversation about Tensleep in 2019 after a proliferation of routes were developed with use of drilled holds and large amounts of glue. After multiple fireside meetings, bending the ear of those around us, we decided that these methods of route development did not reflect the current standards of route development in rock climbing.

Regardless of previous route development, or the challenges posed in developing routes in sometimes-crumbly dolomite, chipping and gluing of rock walls in order to create climbing routes does not have our support or the support of the greater climbing community.
